Described as “inseparable” by the center’s facilitator, Christine Janks, Tuesday and Penzie share their days doing everything together—from lounging to eating.
The two animals are often seen side by side, creating a heartwarming contrast between the cheetah, known as one of the fastest land animals, and the tortoise, a creature famous for its slow pace.

“She steals his food,” Janks laughs, noting how Tuesday has developed a taste for Penzie’s favorites, like avocados and tortoise pellets.
Tuesday’s appetite for these unlikely treats is a testament to the bond that has grown between them.

Tuesday, born at the center in 2018, ironically on a Wednesday, has lived with Penzie, a 20-year-old tortoise, from an early age.
This long-term companionship has led to a deep bond, with Janks confident about Penzie’s safety, despite Tuesday’s natural hunting instincts. “The chances of her being aggressive are minimal,” she explains, noting that the two have grown up together.

This unexpected friendship has captivated visitors, who often come from afar to witness this unique connection between the cheetah and the tortoise, proving that sometimes the strongest bonds form in the most unexpected ways.
